The first capsule toy vending machine was installed in Tokyo around 1965, having been imported from the United States (according to our research). They were not yet compatible with 100-yen coins, and there were few products that utilized characters. Around 1977, items fully utilizing character copyrights appeared. It was by Popy Corporation (a Bandai group company, which later merged).
